In anticipation of the final decision of Chinese giant Dalian Wanda on the Edificio España building, we got another piece of news from the VP Hotels that revealed its project for the Madrid’s ‘must-visit’ Plaza de España square.

The hotel chain controlled by Vicente Perez Carnicero and family is going to build a 17-storey establishment, with 5* quality and 225-keys on a plot found at numbers 3, 4 and 5 of the Plaza de España square, formerly home to a headquarters of Telefonica.

At the project presentation, attended by the mayoress of Madrid, Ana Botella, Mr. Perez confirmed that the buiding works are scheduled for January and the venture will consume a €90 million investment. The owner foresees the Hotel VP Plaza de España will open its doors on 8th September 2016.

The project (the final result pictured), involving a total area of 25.340 square meters, has been developed by Fermin Vazquez (co-designer of such emblematic buildings as the Torre Agbar and the Torres Porta Fira towers). It includes a heated outdoor swimming pool and a Sky Bar on the 12th floor.

The construction process will give 600 jobs and once finished, the hotel will employ a 180-person staff.

The Hotel VP Plaza de España will become the flagship unit of the chain, founded in 1997 and possessing four more establishments in Madrid, or 265 rooms in total.
