OD Group Buys Carburos’ HQ For €20M To Open Hotel

The Ibizan ‘OD Group’, founded by Marc Rahola Matutes, the nephew of the businessman Abel Matutes, has acquired the headquarters of Carburos Metálicos, on Calle Aragón in Barcelona, where it plans to open a hotel. The deal was closed just days after the new mayoress, Ada Colau, announced a hotel moratorium, which will last for at least a year and paralyses the granting of any kind of tourist licence in Barcelona. According to sources close to the transaction, no hotel licence has yet been requested for the property.

The building is located on Calle Aragón, next to the Méndez Vigo arcade and two blocks from the Passeig de Gràcia. (…).

The OD Group’s transaction was brokered by Renta Corporación, which itself held a purchase option over the building. The sale to the Ibizan chain was agreed for just over €20 million, according to sources in the real estate sector. (…).
