Marriott focuses its effords on the luxury segment and announces opening 200 high-end hotels more over the next three years, a number that represents 25% of all investments foreseen by the U.S. giant for the year 2014. In total, $15 billion (around €11 billion).
At the moment, Marriott has got 449 luxury and boutique establishments distributed over eight brands, like Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Edition, Autograph, AC Hotels by Marriott, Moxy (to debut in Europe in September) and Renaissance.
In Spain, where the hotel chain is taking part in the bidding for the Ritz Hotel in Madrid, it also shares an AC by Marriott with businessman Antonio Catalán. The partners have got over 30 projects sealed to open gradually new hotels in the USA and Latin America.
