Hispania Activos Inmobiliarios, in majority controlled by U.S. millionaire George Soros, has closed its first acquisition, namely the Guadalmina hotel in Marbella for which the listed firm paid €21 million.

The target of the freshly listed company is a building located adjacently to the Puerta de Alcalá monument and built in 1833. The five-star, 41-room hotel has been completely refurbished. “Hispania could not afford to buy the entire chain due to its high indebtness casting risk. But one precious link satisfies it in all respects”.
Alicia Koplowitz holds 33% of the Hospes Hoteles´s stake and the remaining 66% is split between Areyhold of the Yera family and Telescom of the Hernandez Lopez clan.
The owners were forced to sell Parisian Lancaster hotel to trim the total debt of the chain marking presently €60 million.
Moreover, Koplowitz finds it difficult to sell her Ritz hotel in Madrid. She bought the property in 2003 for €120 million and until now she has not received any noteworthy offer for it.
