Green Light for Onix Renta’s Macro-Hostel in Vila Olímpica de Barcelona

Onix Renta has received the green light for the macro-hostel that it is going to build in Vila Olímpica de Barcelona. La Generalitat de Cataluña has approved the property developer’s project in the maritime area of the Catalan capital, where it is going to open a hostel for 440 people.

The site where the hostel is going to be inaugurated used to house the headquarters of Mapfre in Barcelona. Grupo Icyesa, the parent company of Onix Renta, has managed to pass all the administrative inspections to allow its project to be accepted by the Youth Department of the Generalitat, according to Crónica Global.

Gonzalo Llarás, representative of Icyesa, explained that the hostel is going to attract a type of value-added trip “and not the opposite”, in response to complaints from neighbourhood residents, who, through their neighbourhood associations, have denounced that “a project with these characteristics will contribute to the touristification of an area with strong family ties”.
