Not long ago, the U.S. fund TPG hired Rodrigo Rato as the CEO of ServiHabitat and its representative. CaixaBank´s president Isidro Fainé does not hide uproar: “no one called to inform me about the appointment, I learned about it with hindsight”.
At the latest shareholders´meeting, Fainé was caught in the crossfire of questions. “What is the ex-minister of Economy and ex-director of Bankia doing in La Caixa?”.
In response, Fainé reminded that TPG holds 51% of ServiHabitat and Alfonso Cortina, hired together with Rato, is the director of TPG for Spain. “I swear that neither Mr. Cortina, nor TPG called me with the news”. So claims vice-president of CaixaBank, Juan María Nin.
