Vila Nova de Gaia to Invest in More Affordable Housing

24 October 2019 –

Next month, the Vila Nova de Gaia City Council will hold a public tender for the right to develop around 500 homes for the local affordable rental market. The total investment, including the acquisition of land and the construction, is expected to reach approximately €20 million. The city is looking to help families who are unable to find a home by way of the normal rental market, but who also do not qualify for social housing.

The developments will be around the neighbourhood of Arcos do Sardão, near the N-222, as well as in Pedroso, Olival, Santa Marinha and Avintes. Rents will range from 150 euros/month for a 1-bedroom flat o 250 euros for a three-bedroom.
