Madeira States that Government Will Have 600 Properties for Sale in Three Years

13 September 2018

The Regional Vice-President of Madeira, Pedro Calado, said today that within three years the region could have “more than 600 properties for sale,” as a result of increasing investment.

“In the next three years, Madeira should have more than 600 properties for sale that will be placed on the market,” he said during a ceremony commemorating an agreement with the Construction and Real Estate Confederation of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CIMLOP), in Funchal.

The minister stated that he believes that the agreement will lead to increased investments from outside markets.

“We cannot grow if we don’t have productive investment in the region and if we are unable to convince more people to live here in Madeira,” he said.

Mr Calado hopes to spread the word about the opportunities to invest in the real estate developments that exist in the region, but also wants to “demonstrate to international investors that Madeira continues to have and is increasingly able to attract this type of investment.”

The agreement signed today aims to define the conditions for mutual cooperation between the government’s Vice-Presidency and CIMLOP, to enhance economic relations and investment in the construction and real estate sectors in Portuguese-speaking countries.

“[We hope] to show what Madeira has to offer, which is excellent investment opportunities, to the rest of the country and beyond,” the minister declared, who emphasised the executive’s commitment to “always be on the side of entrepreneurs, because they are the ones who have the responsibility for economic development, together with the Regional Government.”
