Housing Prices Reach New High

According to an article in Economia Online, housing prices continued their recently inexorable rise in Portugal, as real estate valuations by banks for the purpose of granting mortgages rose for the 24th consecutive month to 1,247 euros per square meter. Data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) showed that the banking assessments increased by eight euros, or 0.6% m-o-m and 6.9% y-o-y, to a new all-time high.

The Algarve saw the highest year-on-year growth at 12.6%, while the Autonomous Region of the Azores registered the lowest (1.7%).
