Housing prices in the historic centre of Lisbon rose by 19% during the second half of last year, year-on-year, according to an article in the Observador, citing data published by Confidencial Imobiliário. The figure represents an approximate return to levels growth the market has experienced since the second semester of 2015. The streak of 20% increases was only interrupted during the first semester of 2018 when prices rose by 5.6%.  Lisbon’s historic centre encompasses the neighbourhoods of Misericórdia, Santa Maria Maior and São Vicente.

The recovery in price growth last semester brought the total accumulated increase in housing prices in the area since the first semester of 2013 to 134%. Housing prices, however, are expected to soften in the coming months in the centre and Lisbon as a whole.
