Lisbon will have four new riverside towers, between Santos and Cais do Sodré, included in the Planning Detail of the Aterro da Boavista Poente (PPABP). The buildings will be between 28 and 32 meters high, with a maximum of nine floors, and occupy an area of 8427 square meters. These buildings will be built next to the IADE – European University, where a car park is currently located.

The buildings will have “a height similar to the IADE building,” explained Francisco Freire, the architect who is developing the project. PPABP will encompass several urbanization projects around the towers, with a planned cost of about 1.5 million euros, for the installation of green areas, road infrastructure, sanitation, electricity, gas and telecommunications networks.

According to Francisco Freire, the project has come from the “desire to recuperate the area for housing and commerce” and, in total, the redevelopment will have an intervention area of 36,730 square meters, continuing the already approved Planning Detail of the Aterro da Boavista Nascente.

The project’s presentation session was held yesterday in the Sala Fernando Farinha and was attended by Sara Bragança, head of the Territorial Planning division of the Lisbon City Hall.

About 20 residents participated in the session and questioned about parking in the area.

According to the official, new parking lots are planned for the area. Comments and suggestions regarding the project can be presented by citizens of Lisbon up to August 16, on the municipality’s website.
