Foreign Capital Accounts for 80% of the Real Estate Investment in Santa Maria Maior

5 December 2019 – The parishes of Santa Maria Maior and Misericórdia in Lisbon saw investments worth a total of more than 100 million euros in the first six months of 2019.  Of that, an astonishing 80% came from foreign investors. Two other parishes saw large scale investments. Investors poured €42.8 million and €38.3 million as well into Santo António and Arroios, respectively. In both cases, foreign investment accounted for almost 50% of the total.

Since the beginning of the year, foreign investment grew by 10% in central Lisbon as a whole. Some of the most sought-after investments were in the Urban Rehabilitation Area, with a total of 759 operations amounting to €343.9 million. The figure represents 34% of the total investments of roughly €1.02 billion, according to a report by Confidencial Imobiliário.
