25 October 2018

The Ministry of Economy, through the Energy Efficiency Fund (FEE), has launched a new tender, totalling 3.1 million euros, to promote energy efficiency in buildings. The Ministry recently extended the deadline for applications to November 13.

Notice 25 – Energy Efficiency in Buildings provides funding for projects aimed at improving the energy efficiency of existing buildings in the residential and corporate sectors. In this context, “energy efficiency measures that lead to improving the energy performance of existing buildings, the residential sector and private law services are eligible for financing, contributing to the goals defined in the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (PNAEE) and national energy efficiency targets within the framework of the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED),” the Ministry of Economy explained in a statement.

Measures eligible for this type of financing include upgrades to water heating systems and thermal insulation and the installation of energy-efficient windows, according to the Building Performance Regulation, involving interior and exterior and efficient lighting.

The measure is aimed at two types of beneficiaries: individuals who own existing and occupied buildings, single-family homes, or flats in multi-family buildings (beneficiaries A), these will receive a budget of €1.55 million; and companies governed by private law, who own existing and occupied buildings (beneficiaries B), who will receive the remainder.

A-type beneficiaries are limited to a maximum total incentive of 15,000 euros, the maximum limit per building or flat is 7,500 euros. Beneficiary B is limited to a maximum total incentive of €47,500.

Applications must be submitted to the FEE through the PNAEE e-portal, where all requested documents must be duly completed and submitted. The application submission period was initially four months, from June 13 to October 13, but was extended until November 13.
