Comprehensive Plan for Northwestern Olhão Approved

30 August 2017

The town council approved today, Wednesday, August 30, the proposed Comprehensive Plan for the northwest of Olhão. The Comprehensive Plan is a municipal territorial management tool that allows the municipality to implement formal urban planning guidelines for the area in the city’s northwest, directing the urban fabric of the city in that zone.

The Comprehensive Plan for northwest Olhão will include the parishes of Pechão and Quelfes, more precisely in the northwest area of the city, known as Quinta João de Ourém.

It covers an area of about 20.62 hectares, corresponding to a highly consolidated area of the city.

This process began in March of this year, when, in a joint meeting, a unanimous decision was made to begin the elaboration of the territorial management instrument; followed by a consultative period, which ran from July to August.

The Northwest Olhão Comprehensive Plan now goes to the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission for approval, to be subsequently presented to the Municipal Assembly.
