CNAPU Determines New Property Tax Location Coefficients

3 December 2019 – Portugal’s National Urban Building Evaluation Commission (CNAPU) has completed its proposal to revise location coefficients, which serve as a basis for determining property value and associated property taxes (IMI).

Several municipalities on the coast are set to see an increase in their location coefficients, especially for middle-class homes. Lisbon and Porto will also potentially see increased rates. At the same time, the CNAPU has proposed lower rates for some areas in the country’s interior.

The CNAPU’s proposal must now be submitted for approval by the Portuguese government.
