Cascais to Invest in the Construction of New Student Residences

21 October 2019 – Rising housing prices and rents are affecting not just the residential real estate market in Portugal but student housing as well. In response, Cascais announced that it would invest €150 million, €18 million of which will go towards the construction of 430 rooms of university residences, with rents ranging from 300 to 450 euros.

The municipality intends to create partnerships with the private sector to build 1,178 flats at market rates and 430 subsidised flats. In total, there will be 1,608 new flats in Cascais.

The student residences will be built in the Santa Maria do Mar Monastery in Sassoeiros, the Bairro dos Pescadores and two in the Bairro Marechal Carmona.
