Casa das Oliveiras Rebuilds a 19th-Century Property in Downtown Porto

4 July 2018

A new residential project will be erected in the heart of Porto. The Casa das Oliveiras – the project’s name – will result from the restoration of a building that was initially built at the beginning of the second half of the 19th century by the first Count of Campo Bello, the pioneer of electric telescoping. The building will be transformed into a venture including housing and commerce.

Located at 3 Largo Alberto Pimentel, in Cedofeita, on one of the most emblematic roads in Porto’s historic centre, the project, designed by the architect Isabel Vincke, preserves the property’s original identity while developing flats ranging from studios to three-bedrooms. The apartment can be bought, at prices starting at 229,000 euros or rented, starting at 1,000 euros per month.

The urban rehabilitation project will consist of eight flats, spread over four floors. Five of the apartments will be available for sale and three for rental.

It should be noted that the total areas of the flats for sale range from 47 square meters (m2) to 99 m2 while the properties for rent have areas ranging from 80 m2 to 136 m2. The two spaces located on the ground floor are intended for commercial activity.

Building’s original lines to be preserved

“Considering the property’s good state of conservation, the rehabilitation project provides for the preservation of the building’s original lines, while adapting it for the requirements and comfort of modern housing for families, with private garden and the possibility of parking,” states Predibisa, a real estate consultancy which specialises in the north of the country and which is responsible for sales of the project.

Madalena Macedo Pinto, who is leading the project at Predibisa, believes that the Casa das Oliveiras is a “unique real estate product.” “The centrality, the care involved in the reconversion of the building and the exclusivity of the apartments make this an excellent investment opportunity in Porto, an increasingly cosmopolitan city,” she says.

The consultant also added that “the diversified cultural and leisure offerings, the proximity of commercial areas, services, schools and public transport network make this the ideal address for anyone who intends to live or invest in the downtown area.”
