7,920 Homes Are Currently on Sale in the Municipality of Porto

Porto is a fashionable and sought-after destination for purchasing housing, both for Portuguese and international buyers. In the municipality, which has an area of 41 square kilometres that is divided into seven parishes, there are 7,920 homes are on sale through the website bpiexpressoimobiliario.pt, of which 5,679 are flats, and 2,241 are houses. A single parish, the union of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau and Vitória, where the city’s historic centre is located, contains 24.78% of the total of 1,963 properties (1,729 flats and 234 houses).

An example of the properties on sale in the parish includes a two-bedroom duplex, on sale for €250,000. With two fronts and a terrace, the flat has 104 m2 of living space. For a little more, €366,500, a three-bedroom flat with 152 m2 of floor space and two parking spaces can be purchased in the same area.

The union of parishes of Aldoar, Foz do Douro, and Nevogilde has the second highest amount of properties on offer, with 615 flats and 744 houses. Here, there is a two-bedroom flat, in a gated community with 180 m2 of living space, that is selling for €778,000.

Opting for a House

If you prefer houses to flats, there is a four-bedroom (+1) home with 300 m2 of living space and a plot of land with 800 m2 on sale for €1.6 million.

Bonfim is the parish with the third highest number of homes on sale, with 931 flats and 303 houses. For €650,000, you can buy a four-bedroom house. There is also a studio flat with 42 m2 of space on sale for €133,000. The city’s remaining parishes include Paranhos, with 966 properties on offer, the Union of parishes of Lordelo do Ouro and Massarelos, with 889, Campanhã (759) and Ramalde (750).

Few Options for Rent

While there are close to eight thousand properties on sale, bpiexpressoimobiliario.pt has only a small number of homes for rent in the city of Porto. 233 properties are currently listed, 184 of which are flats and 49 houses.

This time, the union of parishes of Aldoar, Foz do Douro, and Nevogilde leads the listings, with 58 properties (41 flats and 17 homes), representing 24.89% of the total offer. As an example, a four-bedroom flat with 233 m2 of area in a closed condominium is on offer for € 4500/month. In second place in the ranking comes the union of parishes of Lordelo do Ouro and Massarelos, with 36 flats and 12 houses. For €650/month, one can rent a one-bedroom flat with 60 m2 of floor area.

With 38 flats and two houses available for rent, the union of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau and Vitória is in third place. It’s possible to rent a furnished 1-bedroom flat, located on the top floor of a building, for €850/month. There 33 homes for rent in Paranhos, 24 in Ramalde, 21 in Bonfim and 9 in Campanhã.
