Vila Velha De Ródão Invests in Housing for Young People

The Vila Velha de Ródão town council will spend 1.8 million euros in the construction of a housing complex aimed at attracting young people, a project that will also include a set of equipment for collective use, as was announced yesterday.

“This housing project also includes green areas for collective use, a structure to support urbanisation, with amenities such as a cafeteria, terrace and convenience store, also incorporating a street area, parking and playground,” the president of the council, Luís Pereira, said in a statement.

The housing complex of Quinta da Torre’s project, involving a total area of 6,703 sqm, includes the construction of eighteen homes (four two-bedrooms, and fourteen three-bedrooms) in townhouses and terraced houses, with sizes that will be defined by the norms associated with cost-controlled housing.

The mayor of the municipality of the district of Castelo Branco explained that the construction of the eighteen homes would cost 1.3 million euros.

“The municipality, with this intervention, does not intend to replace the free market for residential construction, for sale or rent, but rather to meet specific needs in a relatively fragile housing stock which, given the increasing level of employability that is present in the municipality, is insufficient to cover the constant demand for housing by potential new residents,” he stated.

Luís Pereira also said that the construction of this complex would allow the municipalities to allocate the homes through the rental or sales market.

“This investment is aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens and stimulating population growth,” he concluded.
