Vila Nova de Gaia to Develop 400-500 Subsidised Rental Homes

21 January 2019

The Vila Nova de Gaia City Hall will grant a concession to develop 400-500 new homes for the affordable rental market, the mayor, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, stated today.

“We are studying a public tender for the development of 400-500 new homes with subsidised rents in Vila Nova de Gaia, built from the ground up on municipal land,” the mayor said.

The mayor of the city added that the lots would be built by private companies, though the municipality will manage the applications.

The lots will be in several locations, including Mafamude, Oliveira do Douro, Grijó, Olival and Pedroso.

The aim is to “increase the supply all over the [municipality]” so that “[our capacity] to respond to requests can be matched by the [applicants’] locations.”
