Vila Galé Inaugurates €25-Million Hotel in Sintra

It is the second five-star unit that the Vila Galé group has opened in Portugal. The new hotel generated about 70 direct jobs.

This Saturday, the Vila Galé group inaugurated the Vila Galé Sintra, a 136-room hotel that is the result of an investment of more than 25 million euros and that generated approximately 70 direct jobs.

In a ceremony that counted with the presence of Prime Minister António Costa, Dionísio Pestana, the Portuguese Tourism Confederation, and Basílio Horta, the mayor of Sintra, Portugal’s second largest hospitality group announced that the new hotel unit that intends to adopt “a concept of well-being designed for families” and to promote “a healthy lifestyle, combining medical care, balanced nutrition, physical and mental health, physical exercise and holistic therapies.”

Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, president of the Vila Galé group, said that “having a project that combines tourism and health has been a long-time aspiration.”

“Sintra has the environs and the ideal beauty of its landscape for creating a hotel with a focus on wellness and well-being, and it should be a bet in [the rest of] Portugal as well. The country has all the conditions to succeed in medical tourism, from its climate, safety, the quality of its hotels, health professionals and gastronomy,” Mr Rebelo de Almeida stated.
