9 March 2020 – The Antas Stadium in Porto, which was demolished 16 years ago remains unoccupied and with an uncertain future. According to the Porto City Council (CMP), “no projects have been submitted” for the plot of land, besides a “request for subdivision.”
According to the Jornal de Notícias, a real estate company owned by Grupo Amorim and Somague (in turn owned by Spain’s Sacyr) controls the property. The Antas Detail Plan (PPA) projected that the site would become home to a residential development, but the financial crisis put the project on hold indefinitely. Developers are currently building other projects in the area, including the Antas Build, which should be completed in the first half of 2021, and the Antas Garden.
