The Cinema Condes Will Be Redeveloped into Ten Luxury Flats

30 April 2018

The former site of the Cinema Condes, in downtown Lisbon, will be redeveloped after years of abandonment and degradation. According to the project’s developer, Odeon Properties, which acquired the property in 2016, construction will begin as early as June. The capital’s latest housing development is expected to be completed by the middle of 2020.

The project was designed by the architect Samuel Torres de Carvalho, who is responsible for some of the most sophisticated and award-winning renovation projects in Lisbon, such as the Memmo hotels in Alfama and Príncipe Real and the Flores 35 and Ferragial 29 residences for the same developer. The new development will have 10 one- to three-bedroom flats with spacious areas (the smallest will measure 112 m2), a street-level restaurant and 2,750-square-meters of automated underground parking.

The restaurant will occupy 575 square meters of space on the ground floor, in the area that was formerly the cinema’s auditorium. The restaurant will also maintain the 24-meter high arch and its original pillars.
