Ten Brinke Group Invests €18 Million in Hotel in Viana do Castelo

26 January 2021

The Dutch group Ten Brinke is set to invest approximately 18 million euros in the construction of a development including a hotel, supermarket and restaurant in Viana do Castelo. Construction will begin on a plot of land that once housed the former carpet manufacturer Somartis, which was founded in the 1960s.

Francisco Coelho, Ten Brinke’s project director in Portugal, told Lusa that “we expect to start construction from mid-June to complete at least two of the three … by the end of the year: the supermarket and the restaurant.” Mr Coelho added that the development is the Dutch group’s second investment in Portugal.

According to the executive, the Viana do Castelo City Council has already approved the project. At the same time, he declined to name the supermarket, fast-food restaurant and hotel’s potential operators.
