Study Names Portugal as One of the Best Countries for Buying a Home via Golden Visa Programme

According to a study on the supply of housing in 20 countries worldwide by the British consultancy Astons, Portugal is the only country in the European Union that is among the three best places to buy a new home in Europe using a gold visa programme. The programmes include the concession of a residency or even citizenship.
Astons also named Montenegro and Switzerland, in addition to Portugal, among the countries in the world that have the most attractive golden visa investment programmes, considering new the supply of new homes as a percentage of the total currently available.
The consultancy added that the three countries have seen demand for such visas rise considerably due to difficulties created by Brexit.
According to the study, the top three are followed by Greece and the United Kingdom itself. The two only offer residence permits, with 8% and 7% of new builds out of the total market on offer, respectively.
