Second Pousada de Portugal to Open in Lisbon

1 September 2017

The Palácio Valadares, located next to the Largo do Carmo, in the city of Lisbon, will be converted into a Pousada de Portugal. According to the newspaper Jornal de Negócios, Enatur, the company responsible for these hotels, expects to start renovations this year.

“Enatur expects that, during 2017, the leasing, licensing and even the beginning of construction on the adaptation of the Palacio Valadares… will be possible,” the Jornal de Negócios reported based on Enatur’s management report and accounts in 2016.

According to the report, the project for the new pousada “has been analysed by the Directorate General of Treasury and Finance, responsible for heritage sites like this building.”

The operation of the new establishment will be handed over to the Pestana Pousadas Group, which manages the chain and holds 49% of Enatur’s capital.
