Residential Bank Valuations Continue Their Upward Trend

In November, the average value of bank valuations maintained its upward trend. On average, valuations increased by three euros for houses and flats.

The average value of residential bank valuations maintained its upward trend in November. According to the National Statistical Institute (INE), the average price rose to 1,144 euros per square meter, regarding approved home loans. That is €3 more than in October.

This figure represents a month-on-month increase of 0.3% and 4.9% over the same month of 2016. €1,144 is close to a high for the series, which was reached in April 2011 (€1 156/m2).

By region, the INE reported that the highest increases were in the Autonomous Region of the Azores (1.9%) and the Centre (0.9%).

But two regions registered a decrease in prices: Alentejo (-0.7%) and the Algarve (-0.2%) were the exceptions.

Compared with the same period last year, bank valuations of apartments and housing increased by 5.0% and 4.9%, respectively.
