Receipts from IRS and IRC on Real Estate Grow by More than 70%

Revenues from the taxes grew between 2014 and 2018. Together with IMI and IMT, these taxes will yield about 3.3 billion euros this year, almost a billion euros more than four years ago.

The total amount of revenues from IRS on rents and IRC paid by companies operating in the real estate market increased by more than 70% between 2014 and 2018, the Jornal de Negócios reported on October 4. The figures were prepared by the consultancy Deloitte, which estimates that in the last four years IRS payments by landlords increased by 78%, rising from 301 million euros to 537 million.

IRC payments by companies operating in the real estate sector are also estimated to have increased by 72% this year, from 127 million euros to €218 million in 2018. Together with receipts from IMI and IMT, total revenues are expected to reach about 3.3 billion euros by the end of the year, nearly one billion euros more than four years ago.

In 2010, assets under management by real estate investment funds worldwide rose from €866 billion to €2.3 trillion at the end of 2017.
