Prices Increased by 6.7%. How Much Do Room Rentals Now Cost in Portugal?

Increasing prices over the last 12 months have raised the average cost to 254 euros per month.

On Tuesday, at a time of strong growth in the real estate market, Idealista released a study indicating that the cost of room rentals rose by 6.7% in the 12 months to August compared to the same period last year.

The increase put the average price of room rentals in Portugal at 254 euros per month.

The highest price increases were registered in Setúbal (9.9%), followed by Porto (8%), Leiria (6.7%), Lisbon (4.9%) and Coimbra (3.7%). Santarém saw a decrease in the price of renting rooms, the only district in Portugal to do so.

The district of Lisbon has the most expensive rooms in the country, where costs amount to 323 euros per month, according to the real estate website. Other districts with elevated prices include Porto, Setúbal and Braga.

Among the districts analysed, the least expensive are Santarém (169 euros), Leiria (180 euros) and Coimbra (190 euros).
