Portuguese Government to Launch Affordable Housing Fund with 15,000 Properties

22 September 2020 – The Portuguese Council of Ministers has approved a measure that will create a state-owned fund with approximately 15,000 properties that can be used for housing. The Infrastructure Minister, Pedro Nuno Santos, announced that the government had identified roughly 15,000 properties throughout the country that would be available immediately for conversion into affordable rental housing.

The minister added that any vacant or available properties that come available or are identified in the future would be added to the fund, following instructions from the country’s prime minister.
