Porto City Council Denies a Possible Sale of the Palácio dos Correios

4 January 2018

The CTT building, on the Praça General Humberto Delgado, “will not be a hotel, is not for sale and belongs to the Porto City Council,” the municipality said in a statement.

In response to reports over the last few days by various media outlets, the local authority issued a statement clarifying that the “[Palácio dos Correios] building is owned by the Porto City Council” and that “it does not intend to sell it.” It added that ‘the building in question does not have any approved project for the construction of a hotel, shop, services or housing’.

The municipality says that they fully acquired the building in late 2017, and reaffirmed that “it was not put up for sale, nor does the municipality intend to do so.”
