The Porto Chamber will rehabilitate, for a maximum value of 540,000 euros, two residential buildings in the historic zone, in an announcement of procedure published this Friday in the Diário da República.

The municipal company Domus Social, which manages public housing, made the ann0uncement regarding the recuperation of the “residential buildings located at the Rua Azevedo de Albuquerque, Nos. 70 and 76,” next to the Rua da Restauração.

The contract period is for approximately one year, and the base bid price is 540,000 euros. The award criterion has been fixed to the “most economically advantageous tender”, and the need for prior approval by the Court of Auditors has been mentioned.

At the end of September, during the election campaign, the current Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira (independent), revealed that “since the end of May”, the municipality has assigned 32 houses to families who wanted to return to the historic center, where there are another “200 projects, more or less, in our portfolio.”

Noting that an additional seven houses have been completed in the historic centre and that there are “200 projects, more or less, in our portfolio,” Mayor Moreira emphasised at the time to “restore to the people who left” the historic zone “the right to live where they want to live.”

Moreira said at the time that he wanted to continue to buy houses in the historic centre, “exercising their rights to option” even in “occupied” properties, to “anchor the population.”
