Orbitur Park to be Transformed into Apart-Hotel

1 June 2018

The urban development will replace the camping site in Quarteira.

A new urban development, called Quinta do Oceano, will have tourist, commercial and residential components. The project will occupy an area of 9.7-hectare area that currently makes up the Orbitur Campsite of Quarteira. The environmental impact study will be under public consultation until June 14 by the Portuguese Environment Agency.

Under development by Invesfundo VII – Closed Real Estate Investment Fund, the project is to include a six-floor aparthotel, with two basement floors, with a total of 56 flats. Collective-housing buildings (361 homes) with retail stores, as well as single-family housing (63 homes) and detached single-family homes (19 homes) are to be built.

“There is a distance of about 500 meters between the last houses and the sea, which will correspond to a protected area which is currently occupied mainly by meadows and pines, and where there can be no construction,” the documents state.

Included in the project is a 3,920-m2 concession area for the public, where a multipurpose pavilion will be built.

According to the project, “the current campsite will be decommissioned. The existing buildings will be demolished, the roads removed, along with the mobile homes.”

Orbitur “has already acquired a plot to build a new campsite in another area of the parish of Quarteira.”
