Muda Reserve Comes to Life: Village Farms, Houses and Villas on the Alentejo Coast

14 November 2018

The Muda Reserve project, in the village of Muda, near Comporta and in the middle of the Alentejo coast, is coming to life. Sales of the 42 “village farms” (Quintas da Aldeia) will start soon, the developer, Vanguard Properties, announced, adding that it has already completed the initial infrastructural work. In addition to the farms, about 50 semi-detached houses (Casas da Aldeia) and 150 lots (Villas da Aldeia) will be built on the site.

“The high technical quality infrastructure includes about nine kilometres of aggregate gravel roads, wooden gates and fences, potable water networks, irrigation, electricity and telecommunications laid to the door of each plot of land,” Vanguard Properties, which invested around 200 million euros in the Muda Reserve project, said in a statement.

The project “extends over an area of 350 hectares and recreates the concept of a village consisting of Houses, Villas and Farms with gardens, vegetable plots and orchards,” the company stated, noting that it took “greater care with the environment during the implementation of the infrastructure.”

According to Vanguard Properties, the 42 Quintas da Aldeia have areas ranging from four to seven hectares, allowing the construction of homes of up to 500 square meters (m2) in area, plus 100 m2 of waterproofed areas. The remaining land can be used for agricultural or other activities.

“In addition to the 42 Quintas in the centre of the village, the new village includes a set of about 50 terraced homes, called Casas da Aldeia, with sizes ranging from studios to three-bedroom houses with areas between 60 and 200 m2, with all modern facilities and a private garden with swimming pool. There are various support facilities, such as sports fields, a swimming pool, commercial area (cafe, restaurant, supermarket, etc.), children’s playground, chapel, among others. There will also be the Villas da Aldeia, about 150 villas with areas between 670 and 2,300 m2 and between three to six-bedrooms and construction areas between 150 and 700 m2, close to the centre of the village.
