Minor Hotels to Transform Ecorkhotel into Tivoli Évora Ecoresort

11 June 2018

Part of the renovation of the hotel includes the construction of an exclusive nine-room villa with a private outdoor pool.

The Tivoli Hotels & Resorts, owned by Minor, is about to open its first hotel in Évora, Alentejo. The project, to be named the Tivoli Évora Ecoresort, will result from the renovation of Ecorkhotel, Évora – Suites & Spa, and is scheduled to be ready by the second semester of this year.

The hotel, three kilometres from the city’s historic centre, will feature 56 suites along the 38,000-square-foot property. The central block consists of a lobby bar and a restaurant inspired by contemporary Portuguese cuisine. On the first floor, there is an infinity pool overlooking the Alentejo plain. Part of the renovation of the hotel also includes the construction, already in progress, of an exclusive nine-room villa with a private outdoor pool.

Minor Hotels’ Vice President of Operations and Development for Europe and South America, quoted in a statement, described the investment as a “perfect complement” to the expansion of their portfolio, consisting of 14 units in Portugal, Brazil and Qatar. “It represents our arrival in a region where tourism is growing in a sustained way,” Marco Amaral stated.

The architecture of the resort, which is a tourist project recognised by the Responsible Tourism Institute, aims to stimulate the highest possible energy efficiency. The central block, for example, is coated with cork, a material characteristic of the Alentejo region. However, there is more: geothermal heating will be used for the main building and solar panels for the heating of running water and swimming pools.
