Lisbon Approves Plan to Help the Homeless

9 March 2020 This month, Lisbon’s Municipal Assembly approved the Municipal Plan for Homeless People (PMPSA) 2019-2023, in which the municipality intends to invest 14.6 million euros to provide 320 new homes under the “Housing First” program by 2023.

The plan also includes programs to increase the employability of homeless people, as well as a commitment to oral health, providing 1,500 free annual dental consultations.

The assembly created the program to help the city’s 361 homeless people and an additional 1,967 people in temporary shelters. Lisbon is looking to improve the housing situation, health, and employability of its inhabitants.
