Investors Return to Real Estate Investment Funds

In September, investments in real estate investment funds (FII), special property investment funds (FEII) and property management funds (FUNGEPI) rose to €10.8384 billion, an increase of €15.1 million (0.14%) compared to August.

According to a statement from the Portuguese Securities and Exchange Commission (CMVM), investments in real estate investment funds rose by 0.4% to 7.8023 billion euros, but fell by 0.5% to €2.5342 billion in FEII and by 0.2% to €501.9 million in FUNGEPI. In the period under review, investments were limited to real estate assets in European Union countries, with 46.4% of open FII and FEII portfolios invested in property linked to the service sector. Investments by FUNGEPI were mainly directed at the retail sector (42.2% of the total). Interfundos (13.8%), Norfin (12.8%) and Fundger (9.4%) had the highest market shares.
