Investment in Golden Visa Programme Fell by 6.8% In November

Funds raised through the golden visa programme fell to 46.6 million euros.

Investments resulting from the Residence Permit for Investment programme totalled 46,669,413 euros in November, a decrease of 6.8% y-o-y.

In November, investments captured through golden visas dropped 6.8% to 46.6 million euros. According to an article today in the Eco newspaper, the Portuguese government granted 83 gold visas, 64 through real estate purchases (24 for urban rehabilitation) and 19 through capital transfers.

The investment resulting from the Residence Permit for Investment (ARI) programme totalled 46,669,413 euros in November, a decrease of 6.8% compared to 2020 (€50 million). Compared to the previous month (46.4 million euros), investment remained largely equal (+0.4%). The figures published by Lusa were based on statistical data provided by the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF).

According to the article, real estate purchases totalled 36.9 million euros last month, including 8.5 million euros for urban rehabilitation, while capital transfers raised 9.7 million euros.

Twenty golden visas went to the United States, while China, which had been in the lead, obtained 19. Brazil was granted 10, Turkey five and Russia another five.
