IKEA to Potentially Open Three New Stores in Portugal

24 October 2019 – IKEA, the Sweden-based multinational which is the world’s largest furniture retailer, plans to increase its footprint in Portugal, opening new stores and new logistics platforms.

The firm is looking into potentially opening new stores on the south bank of the Tejo River, by Lisbon and in Sintra and Cascais.  IKEA is also considering ways to reach a greater number of customers, by investing more in e-commerce and smaller locations.

The IKEA Group currently has five stores in Portugal, employing around 2,500 employees. Last year, IKEA posted growth of 4.5% in Portugal to reach a turnover of approximately 480 million euros.
