Housing Prices Jump to €1,265/m2

Housing prices, as determined by financial institutions assessing housing for potential mortgage loans, have risen for 26 consecutive months. This May, saw those same prices reach an eight-year high, at a national average of 1,265 euros/m2.

According to a report by the National Statistics Institute (INE), prices rose by 0.7% between April and May and by 7.6% in the year to May. Flats rose by 9%, while houses increased by 5.9%.

The year-on-year increase is the highest since the INE began to publish the series in 2011.
