Housing Prices Climb Rapidly in Lisbon’s Periphery

14 January 2020 A study by Confidencial Imobiliário has shown that housing price pressures have moved from central Lisbon to the city’s outlying municipalities. In the third quarter of last year, Montijo, Barreiro, Alcochete and Mafra saw some of the highest price growth in the country, all above 25%.

The municipalities of Almada, Sesimbra, Amadora, Moita, Seixal, Sintra and Setubal also posted growth ranging between 24.9% and 20%. Meanwhile, Oeiras, Odivelas, Vila Franca de Xira and Palmela saw growth of between 15.9% and 17.0%. As a comparison, Cascais and Loures recorded price increases of 11.1% and 6.7%, respectively, while Lisbon itself saw growth of 9.7%.
