Hotel Occupancy in the Algarve at 60.5% in August

7 September 2020 – The average hotel occupancy rate in the Algarve in August stood at 60.5%, 35% lower than in 2019. According to AHETA, the drop in British arrivals contributed most to the decrease (-18%). However, the UK market posted an increase of 3.5% compared to July, following the opening of the air corridor to the Algarve.

The total volume of hotel sales fell by 36.5% compared with August 2019. In line with the effects of the pandemic, per bed occupancy has fallen by an average of -58.1% since the beginning of the year, while sales have fallen by around 56.8%.
