Hospital CUF Tejo Opens its Doors Lisbon

1 October 2020 – This inauguration of the new CUF Tejo Hospital in Alcântara, Lisbon, took place this week after an investment of more than 170 million euros. The new facility was designed to bring together more than 1,700 professionals and a range of patient-focused services.

The Mello Saúde group has stated that the opening of the hospital will take place in phases. Outpatient areas including consultations, examinations, clinical analysis, imaging, and the outpatient oncology department are already functioning.

In-patient services, such as hospitalisation, the operating theatre, the intensive care unit, special examinations and permanent care for adults will begin operations during the second phase, which will take place by the end of this year.

The hospital will have ten operating rooms, including a robotic operating theatre, 213 general inpatient beds, 14 intensive care beds and 178 consultation and examination offices. The facility covers an area of over 75,000m² spread out over six above-ground floors, with underground parking for approximately 800 vehicles.
