26 January 2021

The Espinho Business Center, a mixed-use project including housing, commerce, services and hotels in Espinho, is awaiting recognition by the City Council as a public-interest development.

The Israeli group Fortera is preparing to invest approximately 70 million euros in the new Business and Tourism Center, which is expected to go up near the city’s former municipal slaughterhouse in the southern part of Espinho.

To go ahead, Fortera requires that the municipality recognize that the project is of strategic interest. The city council will vote on the measure this week, after which it will still have to be submitted for approval by the Municipal Assembly.

According to the municipality, the Fortera Group’s project, “is a housing and business complex that will create new a new urban centre, with large areas of public green spaces, and infrastructure that allows for [the public’s] well-being and the easy and safe circulation of pedestrians and cars.”
