According to an article in the Jornal Expresso, the Falcarreira Manor on Rua do Salitre, in Lisbon, considered the most expensive in the Portugal, is being converted into luxury flats. The owner, a Frenchman who opted to remain anonymous, is maintaining the building’s neoclassical exterior and much of its interior as well. Construction on the manor, which was originally built by a viscount of the same name in the second half of the 19th-century, is expected to finish by early 2020.

The new apartment building will consist of three-bedroom flats, priced at between €2 million and €3.17 million, and two-bedroom flats costing from €1.67 million to €1.87 million. The development will have eight apartments, with areas ranging from 150 to 290 m2, with private balconies and underground parking. Those eight flats have already attracted at least 30 credible expressions of interest, so the elevated prices do not seem to be deterring potential buyers.
