Facing the Pandemic, Visitors Head to Portugal’s Interior
6 August 2020 – According to Portugal’s Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Portuguese tourists are avoiding the islands, the Algarve and major cities like Lisbon and Porto, and opting instead for visits to the country’s interior.
Often nature-focused travel to the interior of Portugal, in places like Minho, Trás-os-Montes, Centro and the Alentejo are undergoing a spike in demand, even growing over last year’s figures.
