Dolce Vita Tejo Closer to Becoming a “Shopping Resort”

2 October 2017

The inauguration of the first phase of the renovation of the Dolce Vita Tejo will be held next Sunday. The 70-million-euro investment is a central part of the shopping centre’s strategy to become a “shopping resort.”

At this stage of construction, there have been upgrades to half of the area dedicated to food and beverages. “The new food court is one of the most important facets of our project. This space had never been remodelled since the centre opened in 2009, and was already showing signs of wear and tear. Also, the area is considered key to the shopping mall, as 40% of visitors use the facilities,” Roberto Xavier, director of the shopping centre, explained to Expresso.

The idea is to use the same concept its owner, Eurofund Investments, already employed in its shopping centre Puerto Venecia in Zaragoza, considered the largest in Europe, with a total area of 206,000 square meters. The food court, which will receive a number of meeting places, “whether to spend time with family, to work or simply to be,” was one of the company’s principal strategies to increase the average stay of visitors to the Dolce Vita Tejo, the executive explained.

Completion of the renovation of the rest of the restaurant area and the interior of the mall is expected by the end of December. In February, works on the outside terrace area will be concluded. The mall will operate normally for the duration.

However, the larger project is still awaiting approval from the Amadora City Hall. Should that be forthcoming, a climbing area, wave pool and other family-fun features are expected.
