Construction: Average Output Rises 2.4% in the Eurozone in 2017

Average production in the construction sector increased by 2.4% in the euro area in 2017, and 3.5% in the European Union (EU) compared the previous year, according to Eurostat.
Data for last December show that the indicator increased by 0.5% in the euro area and by 1.5% in the EU year-on-year, and, respectively, by 0.1% and 0.6% over November.
In year-on-year terms, the highest increases in December in the construction sector were recorded in Hungary (35.0%), Slovenia (21.2%) and Poland (18.3%), with decreases in Spain (-13.4%) and Bulgaria (-4.1%).
According to the EU statistics office, compared to November, the highest increases in production in the construction sector were recorded in Romania (4.5%), France (4.2%) and Hungary (3.9%), while the primary decreases were observed in Slovakia (-5.5%), Spain (-4.4%) and Bulgaria (-3.0%).
In Portugal, production in the construction sector grew in December by 3.8% year-on-year.
