Coastal Districts Have a Greater Number of Manors for Sale

5 November 2017

Of the 174 properties available, 113 are in Lisbon, Porto and Setúbal

The distribution of small palaces and manors for sale at bpiexpressoimobiliario.pt is quite irregular, covering much of Portugal. Of a total of 174 properties that are on sale, 113 are located in just three districts: Lisbon has 75, Porto, 21, and Setúbal has 17. Together they account for 65.31% of this type of property on offer. Outside of these three locations, this kind of real estate is scarce, and there are districts like Guarda, Vila Real and Viseu where none of these properties is available for sale at all.

In Lisbon, in the parish of Lumiar, a mansion that is part of a more extensive property is on sale for €7,750,000. Its construction dates to the eighteenth century and the buildings have been renovated and modernised. The manor has a constructed area of more than 1,500 m2, many interior rooms and a terrace, with some additional small outside exterior constructions and a garage.

Outside of the capital, in the parish of Oeiras and São Julião da Barra, Paço de Arcos and Caxias, in the municipality of Oeiras, a ten-bedroom estate with 900 sqm of floor area can be purchased for €6.5 million. The description of the property states that it has 75,000 sqm of land, some annexes and enjoys ease of access to Lisbon.

€6.5 million for a manor

Once again in the district of Lisbon, another manor is also on sale for €6.5 million, but this time it is located in the parish of Santa Maria and São Miguel, São Martinho and São Pedro de Penaferrim, in the municipality of Sintra. Previously restored, the residence has 630 sqm of area, 14 rooms and 7,450 sqm of gardens. Dating back to the 19th century, it is in the middle of the Sintra mountain range.

In the district of Porto, a palace composed of three linked buildings, with more than 5,000 sqm of floor space can be purchased for €5 million. Among its more interesting characteristics is its façade, created in the final phase of the art nouveau movement. It is in the parish of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau and Vitória, in Porto.

On the other side of the river Douro, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, parish of São Félix da Marinha, there is another manor for sale €1,360,000. The home has 680 sqm of floor space, six bedrooms, and is situated on land measuring 3000 sqm.

Residences on offer to the south of the Tagus

In the parish of Alpendorada, Várzea and Torrão, municipality of Marco de Canaveses, a mansion with a vineyard, seven rooms and a swimming pool, overlooking the Douro River can be purchased for 1.5 million euros. It has 600 sqm of floor space.

Setúbal is the district with the third highest amount of this type of property for sale. In the county with the same name, in the parish of São Julião, Nossa Senhora da Anunciada and Santa Maria da Graça, a new, recently restored five-storey building with 2,500 m2 of floor space is on offer for €3.5 million.

In the parish of Quinta do Anjo, in the municipality of Palmela, a three-floor furnished manor in the Serra da Arrábida is on sale for €1.1 million. It has 600 sqm of floor area and 1,000 sqm of land.

Again, in the district of Setúbal, but this time in the parish and municipality of Sesimbra, one of these properties is on offer, with 900 sqm of useful area and nine bedrooms for €945,000. The house is situated on land of 14,000 sqm with a forest of pine trees (stone pines). The home requires some renovation and could be used for tourism-related activities.
