Banks Grant €2.351 Billion in Mortgages in First Quarter of 2019

Portugal’s financial institutions granted 2.351 billion euros in residential mortgage loans in the first three months of the year, an increase of 7.5% and the highest figure since 2010 (€1.734 billion). Just in March, mortgage issuance reached 870 million euros, reversing a two-month decline, according to the Bank of Portugal.

New consumer loans rose slightly to 581 million euros in March, while loans for other purposes rose by 7% to 488 million euros in the year. The figure for March reached €192 (0.82% q-o-q).
